Trends in VET

As you know we passionately believe that training can be done better. The article “Global trends in vocational education and training”, by Dandolo Partners, is an interesting read and it covers a number of topics that we have found people in the training industry are struggling with.

Some interesting points in the article include:

  • The risk for VET providers is that they become the ‘trainers of last resort’: servicing the most challenging and least profitable cohort;
  • Superficially, the outlook for vocational education and training providers is bright …. however, the changing skills market (for supply and demand) has burdened providers with added complexity, risk and uncertainty;
  • The 7 global trends, shown in the image above;
  • A discussion on strategies for student retention;

Overall I found it to be a very interesting and thought provoking read.

Without a doubt the future of training is bright, and it is going to play a pivotal role in assisting industry to be competitive in the local and global markets. But, and it is a big but, it is going to be quite a different market place ….
